The Committee’s Report was read at the Association’s July 1882 Crediton meeting. Its purpose was to note and record current and past use of any Verbal Provincialisms in Devonshire, in either written or spoken language, that were not included in the lists published in the Association’s Transactions. At this, its fifth meeting Committee members expressed regret that so few Association members had taken interest in  the subject. It appeared that  of approximately 400 potential  observers, only seven members had furnished material for the present Report. It, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitization of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
