Fifth Report (Second Series) of the Committee to Collect and Tabulate Observations on the Climate of Devon During 1885.

Trans. Devon Assoc., 1886, Vol XVIII, p. 142.

by

P.F.S. Amery.

Prepared by Michael Steer

The Report was presented at the Association’s July 1886 St. Marychurch meeting. The Committee had collected and tabulated an abstract of meteorological observations taken during 1885 relating to rainfall, temperature, humidity, and cloud, by several experienced persons scattered throughout Devon, claiming that a comparison afforded a better idea of the climatic variations in the different districts than any generalization might. This index provides a record of the observers who participated in the project and identifies their stations. The station opened recently at Princetown had made only a partial return, and a new station at Buckfastleigh had been added. The Report, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
