The Paper was presented at the Association’s July 1892 Plymouth meeting. It is for the genealogist, a treasury of names associated with the earliest research into our county’s unique Natural History. The author was among the first to study the functional biology of marine invertebrate larvae. His poems appeared as ”Larval Forms and Other Zoological Verses”. Among his best; “The Ballad of the Veliger”. They describe the form and function of several marine larvae as well as illustrating several of the controversies raging at that time. Professor Garstang’s biography together with his portrait is available in Wikipedia. The Paper, from a copy of a rare journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
