Collectanea curiosa Devoniensia - Part II

Trans. Devon Assoc., vol. 11 (1879), pp. 343-403.

by

Paul Q. Karkeek

Prepared by Michael Steer

The paper, presented at the Association's July 1879 Ilfracombe meeting is essentially a short miscellany of odds and ends relating to Devonshire and its history. Its author presents a series of "old wives tales," collected by Mr. J. T. White of Torquay (about Torre Abbey, Dartmouth, and Berry Pomeroy Castle), and who had requested him to “do as I like with them”, he having  been  prevented  by ill health from attending to literary endeavour. Google with the Archive Organization has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. The article, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
