Sixth Report of the Barrow Committee

by

R.N. Worth, F.G.S. etc.

Trans. Devon Assoc. 1884, Vol XVI, pp.124-126.

Prepared by Michael Steer

The report was presented at the Association’s July 1884 Newton Abbot meeting. This particularly important working Committee was formed with the express purpose of collecting and recording facts relating to Barrows in Devonshire, initially exclusive of Dartmoor, and taking steps for their investigation. In this, its sixth report, the Committee presented an account of the investigation of two Bronze Age Barrows at Great Torrington, the remaining portion of a group of five barrows, partly in that parish and partly in Huntshaw adjoining, two of which had been examined in former years. The article, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
