John Cranch died 26th April 1839; the will was proved in the Principal Registry of the Lord Bishop of Exeter 14th May 1839.

In the name of God Amen 22nd April One thousand eight hundred and thirty nine The last Will and Testament of me John Cranch of Exmouth in the parish of Littleham After recommending my Soul to Almighty God and my body to the Earth I make Mr William Walters his heirs and successors Shopkeeper in Exmouth in the parish of Littleham to be my Executor of all my property after my decease two Houses in Little Bickton Place and a Cottage behind and a House and Garden in Staples Building No. 4 in the parish of Withycombe Rawleigh and all my Goods and Money and to receive all that is coming to me in rent and other things that may be due to me first I give to my Niece Mary Cranch my Brother's daughter after my Wife's death and mine the sum of ten guineas and to my Niece Martha Cranch the sum of ten guineas good and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid twelve months after our decease and I give to John Plimsoll my Nephew of Plymouth ten guineas and that to be paid to Joseph Walters Baker of Exmouth to Mrs Grace White five guineas to Mr Thomas Petherbridge ten guineas to Mrs Grace Plimsoll five guineas and I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills legacies bequest and Executors by me in any ways before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no others to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have set hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.
