Proceedings at the Forty-Second Annual Meeting of the Association
Trans. Devon. Assoc., vol. XXXV, 1903, pp. 23-29.
by
J. Brooking Rowe, F.S.A., F.L.S. & Maxwell Adams
Prepared by Michael Steer
The Association’s Annual Report was presented at its July 14th to 17th, 1903, Sidmouth General Meeting, held at the Manor Pavilion (also Manor Hall), The Rev. William Harpley presiding. The AGM was held earlier than usual. It seemed likely, due to the large numbers of tourists visiting Devonshire in July and August, that future annual meetings might have to be scheduled for the middle of July. This important record is the Forty-second Annual Report of The Council of the Devon Association for the Advancement of Science, Literature, and Art. It provides the genealogist with names of the Association’s early office-bearers, as well as a list of the papers and their authors, delivered at its annual meeting, held at Bideford in the previous year. The Report, from a copy of a rare journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
