The Association’s Annual Report was presented at its July 19th to 22nd, 1904, Teignmouth General Meeting, held in the anteroom of the Church-room, East Teignmouth, Sir Roper Lethbridge in the chair. The meeting was followed by the Urban District Council of Teignmouth’s Reception. Mr. W. Montagu Bird, Council chairman, after the welcome, said that it was nearly 30 years since the Association had last visited the town. A severe thunderstorm broke over Teignmouth shortly before the evening’s proceedings and continued for several hours. This important record is the Forty-third Annual Report of The Council of the Devon Association for the Advancement of Science, Literature, and Art. It provides the genealogist with names of the Association’s early office-bearers, as well as a list of the papers and their authors, delivered at its annual meeting, held at Sidmouth in the previous year. The Report, from a copy of a rare journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers.
