The Association’s Annual Report was presented at its 1877 Kingsbridge meeting. This important record is the Fifteenth Annual Report of The Council of the Devon Association for the Advancement of Science, Literature, and Art. It provides the genealogist with names of the Association’s early office-bearers, as well as a list of the papers and their authors, delivered at its annual meeting, held at the Townhall in Ashburton the previous year. During the meeting, the in-coming President, the Reverend Treasurer Hawker, was inducted to his office, and delivered his Introductory Address. This was followed next day by an extensive program of professional papers as well as social events. The Report, from a copy of a rare and much sought-after journal can be downloaded from the Internet Archive. Google has sponsored the digitisation of books from several libraries. These books, on which copyright has expired, are available for free educational and research use, both as individual books and as full collections to aid researchers..
