The
Barker Benefaction plaque in St. Mary's Church, Huggate.
Mrs Frances Barker of York, did, on May 30. 1726 bequ- eath the sum of £50. the Interest of which is to be given to- wards educating the chuildren of the poor legally settled in the parish of Huggate. To the said £50. were added £10, be- longing to the parish of Huggate, and paid to the Lord of the Manor of Huggate, out of whose Estates the sum of £3, being the Interest of both sums, is to be paid annually: one moiety on Midsummer day, the other on Christmas day. The said Charity to be invested in three Trustees, the Rector of Huggate for the time being, one, and two others near the parish of Huggate. In case of the Trustees dying without others being nominated, the Archbishop of York for the time being to nominate. A Book of entries to be kept in the Vestry. Also Woods Dole, 5s. per annum, to be given in Chari- ty. Payable upon Kilnwick Percy Estate. T. Cross, C. Stubbings, Overseers. 1826 |
