The National Gazetteer of Great Britain and Ireland - 1868

In 1868, the parish of Mainham contained the following places:

"MAINHAM, a parish in the barony of Ikeathy and Oughterany, county Kildare, province of Leinster, Ireland, 2 miles N.E. of Clane. Maynooth is its post town. It is 3 miles long by 11 mile broad. The soil is good. The road from Prosperous to Maynooth intersects the interior. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Kildare, value with Clane, £349, in the patronage of the crown. Here is Clongowe's Jesuit College."
